Thomas Happ Games announced Axiom Verge 2 got a surprise release on Xbox consoles today.

The metroidvania sequel is now available for Xbox One (via the Microsoft Store) and in a bundle of both the first and second game.

Axiom Verge 2 has been available for Windows PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store), Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4.

Here’s a rundown on the game, plus a new trailer:

Axiom Verge 2 is a 2D “metroidvania” action-adventure. Though a sequel to Axiom Verge, is a completely new game: new characters, new abilities, new enemies, and a new world. You can play it before or after the original Axiom Verge.

The sole developer, Tom Happ, is responsible for all the music, art, game design, and programming in this game.
