Yohei Shimbori Leaves Koei Tecmo

Dead or Alive franchise director Yohei Shimbori has announced he’s left Koei Tecmo.

“I’d like to make an announcement,” Shimbori said on Twitter. “I have been involved with DOA for about 16 years, and while there have been times when I have been pleased, there have also been times when I have not been able to meet your expectations. I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to the many people who have supported and cared for me. Thank you very much.”

Here’s a rundown on the Dead or Alive games he’s worked on:

  • Dead or Alive 6 (2019) – Producer & Director
  • Dead or Alive: Xtreme 3 – Scarlet (2019) – Director
  • Dead or Alive: Xtreme 3 – Fortune (2016 – Director
  • Dead or Alive 5: Last Round (2015) – Director
  • Dead or Alive 5: Ultimate (2013) – Director
  • Dead or Alive 5 (2012) – Director
  • Dead or Alive: Dimensions (2011) – Director

It’s worth noting April 1st in Japan is the beginning of a new fiscal year for lots of Japanese companies, hence the regular announcements of key staff leaving certain companies near or on this date. We’ll keep you guys posted with wherever Shimbori ends up at next!
