Def Jam Recordings Hint at New Def Jam Game

Def Jam Recordings have hinted that a new Def Jam wrestling game may be in the works.

The original Def Jam Vendetta launched in 2003. Developed by AKI Corporation and EA Canada, Def Jam record label hip hop and rap artists were pitted against each other in wresting matches. The last Def Jam fighting game was Def Jam: Icon in 2007, with the last wresting-based one with Def Jam Fight for NY: The Takeover launching in 2006.

Now Def Jam Recordings has tweeted that a new game may be on the way. “The streets saying we need a new Def Jam game. Once our twitter hits 1M, we have a special announcement for y’all !”

As the tweet specifically states a new Def Jam game, we can rule out a remake or a port. As the Def Jam games use the artists’ songs, any port or remake would have issues with licencing the music.
