Felix the Cat collection announced

Felix the Cat

Konami has announced Felix the Cat, a new collection of classic Felix the Cat games for modern platforms via Limited Run Games’ Carbon Engine.

The new Felix the Cat collection is coming to Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PS5, though a release date wasn’t announced.

Physical and classic editions will be available over on the Limited Run Games store, and preorders run from February 9th through March 10th.

Here’s what’s included in each version of the collection:

Standard Edition (Switch, PS4 & PS5):

  • Physical copy of Felix the Cat bundle featuring the 1992 NES title and 1993 Game Boy title of the same name

Classic Edition (Switch, PS4 & PS5):

  • Physical copy of the Felix the Cat bundle featuring the 1992 NES title and 1993 Game Boy title of the same name
  • Physical CD soundtrack featuring original music from the Felix the Cat titles
  • Reversible poster
  • Packaging inspired by the original Felix the Cat NES release box

Here’s a brief blurb on the collection:

Since his debut in 1919, Felix the Cat has endured as a pop culture icon. Across film, television, and gaming, fans have remained endeared to Felix’s playful and imaginative spirit for nearly 105 years. Now, the 8-bit adventures of Felix the Cat are returning for new audiences to discover and generations of fans to enjoy together.

This release includes both the classic NES title and the Game Boy title that was released a year later.  Through Carbon Engine, and some help from Felix’s Magic Bag of Tricks, new features for the titles, including save states and other quality-of-life fixes, bring them into the modern era of gaming. Digital publishing of this collection will be handled by KONAMI, with an announcement of the release date to come.
