A young Ukrainian woman Natalisi Taksisi had a nightmarish experience at a Japanese hotel, after discovering an unknown man under her bed.

The traveler was visiting Japan for a few days while she currently resides in Thailand, and during her visit discovered the trespasser in her hotel room.

According to videos posted on her Instagram on April 25th and the following days, Natalisi was staying in Japan for three days and on the second night, around 7:30 PM, returned to her room and noticed a strange odor after laying down on her bed.

When she checked under the bed, she saw an Asian man hiding there and their eyes met. The man came out from under the bed, stared at Natalisi for about 3 seconds, and then yelled out. Natalisi froze in her tracks, during which time the man fled. She yelled for help, and hotel staff came to her room. After calling hotel staff, the police were also called and arrived promptly to search the room.

After a sweep of the room a mobile battery and USB cable, which were believed to belong to the man, were found under the bed. Natalisi said she then became scared and moved to another hotel.

Since the stranger was hiding in a locked room, Natalisi asked the hotel to take responsibility for the management and security of the room. After negotiations, she received a refund of $600 (a little over 80,000 yen) for her three-day stay, but the hotel refused her request for $1,600 (about 230,000 yen) in compensation, saying that it was not in their regulations.

When asked if the trespasser was caught in security footage, Natalisi asked the hotel to check the footage, tough they explained that it was in a location where the man could not be seen.

Natalisi also posted a follow-up video showing the police examining the room. A woman who appeared to be an investigator said “It’s black hair. I’m going to check if he had something with him” in a conversation that could have been about the man.

Following this, the APA Hotel in Tokyo that Natalisi stayed at told J-CAST News that they have asked an investigative agency to look into the matter, and the investigation is ongoing, so they cannot give you any answers yet.
