Here’s the Debut Gameplay for Mystery Chronicle on PS4 and PS Vita

Following the initial preview for Spike Chunsoft’s remake of One Way Heroics, dubbed Fushigi no Chronicle: Furikaerimasen Katsu Madewa (or Mystery Chronicle: I Won’t Look Back Until I Win in English), we’ve finally gotten a look at the game in action.

Featured above, the debut teaser trailer for the game was revealed by the developer. As we detailed in our previous report, the game is a remake of Smoking Wolf’s One Way Heroics, a doujin RPG that was known for its fun and yet challenging use of forced-scrolling, making players constantly have to rethink their approach to adventuring.

The forced scrolling returns in Mystery Chronicle, only this time the world is being consumed by a bright light, instead of a spreading darkness. The combat will pan out via turn-based mechanics, as you can see in the above trailer. I think seeing the game in motion does it more justice, as compared to its original screenshots.

There are over 20 playable classes planned for the Playstation 4 and PS Vita remake, each of which are upgradeable as you obtain points through multiple playthroughs (and deaths). It’s worth mentioning that each class will have different equipment and capabilities, making each class valuable for different scenarios.

Mystery Chronicle: I Won’t Look Back Until I Win is set for a release on both Playstation 4 and PS Vita some time this summer in Japan.
