Indie developer Team Cherry firmed up the release window for Hollow Knight: Silksong after confusion during Xbox’s new gaming handheld reveal.
During the reveal for Microsoft’s new third-party Xbox handheld via Asus, the company teased Hollow Knight: Silksong running on the handheld – and that it would be available day one from its release.
Speaking on the game’s official Discord server, Team Cherry marketing manager Matthew “Leth” Griffin clarified “I confirmed BEFORE Holiday – we are not tied to a console release.”
When pressed on whether or not this means Hollow Knight: Silksong will launch before Christmas this year – December 25th – the community manager said “Christmas yes.”
The original tease from Xbox marketing seemed to hype the game up as launching alongside the new ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X handhelds – which are also launching this holiday. We likely won’t get a release date for either launches soon, though it’ll be interesting if they do launch simultaneously.
Hollow Knight: Silksong was announced way back in 2019 and has been in development for Windows PC (via Steam), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, PS4, and PS5.
