Marvel vs. Capcom added panty shots for Roll allegedly at Keiji Inafune’s request

Marvel vs. Capcom

With Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection, fans are once again enjoying the crossover fighting games. A fan noticed the game kept panty shots from character Roll, to which its original planner alleged came from Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune.

The game’s original planner, Atsushi Tomita, responded to a fan pointing out Roll’s numerous panty shots were still in the game, alleging that the frequent glimpses of underwear came at original creator Keiji Inafune’s request.

“Roll was a character from another department at Capcom and in the beginning, she was made to be reserved and never show her panties,” Tomita said. “Inafune, the head of Mega Man’s division, came to see her and said ‘No panties?'”

Tomita added, “After this suggestion INO, the character artist working on the game, redid the character pixel art so that every movement from then on would show panties.”

Roll was designed by Keiji Inafune as the original Mega Man was his first major project after joining Capcom in the 1980s. Keiji developed all of the character art and some of the designs in the game but his mentor, Akira Kitamura (A.K.) designed the original static pixel art for Mega Man.

This revelation brought concerns from longtime fans of the fighting game and the Mega Man series, despite the original Marvel vs. Capcom game releasing over 25 years ago. Roll is canonically the younger sister of Mega Man and is depicted as an underage girl, so the demand for panty shots has raised questions.

Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics was just released for Windows PC (via Steam), Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4 on September 12th. An Xbox port for the game is planned for 2025.
