New Beck Design and Japanese Box Art Revealed for Mighty No. 9

Mighty No. 9‘s has seen a recent update that confirmed a few interesting tidbits.

First up, protagonist Beck has gotten a new color palette of sorts, dropping the greys in his original design for a more neutral white. If you’re wondering why the creative team at Comcept decided to do this, let them explain:

From the very beginning we designed Beck to have a neutral, grey base, with the idea of wanting to make something completely new and unique.

But development soldiered on, and as we approached the last leg, we started looking closer at Beck. As a protagonist that could absorb the abilities of his siblings and take on various forms, our image of his appropriate color shifted from ‘neutrality’ to ‘containing all possibilities’… and since white is a combination of all colors of light, we felt that would actually suit his character better! Hence, we went with the coloring change.

Next, we’ve gotten the results of the fan poll to help decide the weapon of choice for Call, Beck’s partner:

Very interesting, so this means Call’s weapon in game will be a bow. For those Mega Man fans out there, this was also the weapon used by Roll.EXE in Mega Man Battle Network.

Last but not least, we have the official Japanese box art:

Mighty No. 9 is set for an April release next year across PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, 3DS, and Wii U.
