With August here, it’s hard to believe summer has already started its final act. It only feels like we’ve only just begun. 

With school coming back, there unfortunately isn’t as many titles this month as previous ones, likely due to the stockpile of games coming out this fall season. That said, there are still a good amount that you shouldn’t be sleeping on. 

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles 2

The sequel to the fighting game of one of the best selling manga of all time has arrived with Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles 2. It follows up the storyline from the previous game, which itself is an adaption of the earlier arcs to the Demon Slayer anime/manga. 

Players will be able to live through the Entertainment District, Swordsmith Village, and Hashira Training Arc with over 40 playable characters. And for hardcore fans that have purchased the previous game, they’ll be able to get bonus content through their save data. 

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles 2 launches on August 5th for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam).

Mafia: The Old Country

Mafia: The Old Country takes the franchise to the past, to show players the origins of the mafia family through the eyes of Enzo Favara as he fights to survive and make it to the top.

Players will immerse themselves in early 1900s Sicily, rich with authentic accuracy as they go through multiple landscapes such as the countryside to the grim urban underground. To survive, they’ll have to learn to use period accurate weaponry in order to take down their foes.

Mafia: The Old Country releases on August 8th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam).

Drag x Drive

The next exclusive title for the recently released Nintendo Switch 2 is coming with a unique take on the basketball formula. Players will have to use one of the latest features found in the new console, the joy-con’s “mouse mode” in order to play this wheelchair-bound basketball multiplayer title.

This surprisingly immersive game will give players a tight experience as they compete against others to drive in and score with the game’s motion controls. All it takes is a few quick motions and a flick of the wrist to do it.

Drag x Drive charges in on August 14th exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2. 

Bendy: Lone Wolf

The popular horror franchise is back with Bendy: Lone Wolf. Players will take the role of Boris in a battle for survival. Nothing is as it seems and monsters lurk around every corner ready to end their existence. 

However they can fight back with well-timed attacks along with crafty traps in order to ensure their survival. However with the Ink Demon constantly on their trail, it only seems they are prolonging the inevitable. 

Bendy: Lone Wolf is set to launch on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam) on August 15th. 

Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar

The beloved farming sim franchise is back with this remake of a classic title in Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar. As expected, players will work towards restoring the town’s bazaar back to its old glory and then some.

Beyond running their own shop, players will also manage their own farm, growing crops for them to sell, as well as exploring the world around them to learn more of its secrets and the inhabitants who call this place home.

Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar is open for business on August 27th for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC (via Steam). 

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater

Another remake of a beloved classic also arrives this month with Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3. The same tale that audiences fell in love with is still here, this time updated thanks to advances in technology since its 2004 release.

New features and addition include the title being rebuilt from the ground up using the latest in Unreal Engine 5. Along with that comes an improved battle system, with scars Snake gets becoming ingrained in his body. There is also an update modern control scheme, with the option to retain the original’s controls as well.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater sneaks onto PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam) on August 28th.

SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance

The Shinobi franchise is back with SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance. This story follows Joe Musashi, who is on a quest for vengeance after his clan has been turned to stone and village burned down. 

As a master shinobi, players will have a plethora of tools and skills at their disposal as they make their enemies regret what they’ve done through brutal combat and stylish platforming. 

SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance leaps into action on August 29th for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam).
