Nintendo has announced the Nintendo Switch has sold over 139.36 million units, making it the third best-selling game console.

Nintendo Switch has sold over 139.36 million units as of December 31st, 2023 – news confirmed in their latest earnings statement. A total of 6.9 million Switch consoles were sold in that period.

The new sales milestone has placed Nintendo Switch as the third best-selling game console of all time, below its predecessor the Nintendo DS (which sold 154.02 million units) and the king, the PlayStation 2 (which sold over 155 million units).

Nintendo also updated their sales numbers for the top-earning first-party Nintendo Switch games:

1. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 60.58 million copies
2. Animal Crossing: New Horizons – 44.79 million copies
3. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – 33.67 million copies
4. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – 31.61 million copies
5. Super Mario Odyssey – 27.65 million copies
6. Pokémon Sword/Pokémon Shield – 26.17 million copies
7. Pokémon Scarlet/Pokémon Violet – 24.36 million copies
8. Super Mario Party – 20.34 million copies
9. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – 20.28 million copies
10. New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe – 17.20 million copies
