The new expansion for the wacky colony simulator Rimworld Odyssey is available now.

The new Odyssey expansion adds space travel and space ship bases. Your colonists can now become a spacefaring civilization unto themselves rather than simply gaze at the stars while the Empire does all the cool space stuff.

This isn’t just a new way to play, but there’s also new biomes, items, landmarks, and enemies to face.

Build your own gravship

Build your own ship and travel across the planet! Land anywhere you want to hunt for treasure, harvest food and fuel, and bring back souvenirs like exotic birds, long-forgotten gravtech, or a gold-plated charge rifle.

Your gravship starts small – just a grav engine, a few rooms, and enough chemfuel to lift off. But over time, it will become a home: a travelling colony of labs, living quarters, workshops, and anything else your colonists need.

Collect rare gravcores to expand your gravship and travel further. You’ll find them in crashlanded orbital platforms, insect-infested caves, broken-down reactors rigged with traps, and other dangerous locations. 

Since it came out in 2018, Rimworld has captured a dedicated fanbase of players who’ve logged thousands upon thousands of hours in-game. What keeps the game fresh is its “Storyteller” system, where players decide on an AI storyteller who helps pace the friction of the game. This ranges from classic and intentional spikes of difficulty, to complete and utter randomness depending on what you choose.

The game’s also known for its in-depth health and organ system. If you want to play a group of mad scientists who kidnap bandits and harvest their kidneys, that’s entirely up to you. Especially with the Ideology expansion to give your colonists a cohesive culture.
