Roller Coaster Tycoon 4 on PC is “Completely Different” from Mobile

roller coaster tycoon 03-24-14-1

I have many fond memories of Roller Coaster Tycoon, I’ve played the series since its original incarnation on PC back in 1999. When Atari and On5 Games announced they were working on a fourth iteration in the series I, like many other fans, was overjoyed.

Sadly they confirmed that the fourth game would be coming to mobile, and that it would be akin to other mobile experiences, i.e. having its more hardcore mechanics toned down and cobbled into a more “mobile friendly” experience. Still, the game will cost $3 dollars, and fans were NOT happy.

Thankfully, Atari can around and confirmed that a dedicated PC version will be coming later this year,  and that it would be “completely different” from the mobile release. The latter confirmation came from Digital Spy, where Atari’s senior director of marketing, Anthony Chien, had this to say:

We can’t share that much, but [PC] will definitely be a completely different game.

Chien also confirmed that the PC version of the game would come with an online multiplayer experience, although he declined to mention what this would entail exactly. We’ll keep you guys posted regarding the eventual PC release of the game, as well as the mobile version.
