Season 3 of Pinball Arcade Hits PSN This Month

Nothing made me more eager to wake up on a day off from school more than a trip to the local mall arcade for some pinball…and no pinball machine excited more me than Bally’s Addams Family. The sounds, the voices, the speed, the ramps, the electric chair that fried Fester…it was a beautiful masterpiece that was as perfect as a pinball machine could, and pinball aficionados agree too since it’s the most requested pinball table for Farsight studios’ Pinball Arcade.

Recently, Farsight’s Mike Lindsey let pinball fans in on the news that the next (3rd) season of pinball arcade would hit PSN this July 15th for the PS3 and Vita then later on the 22nd for the PS4. Some of the boards we’ll be getting in the update are Black Knight 2000, WHO Dunnit, High Speed and Junk Yard. The problem? No Addams Family.

Thankfully, that isn’t neccesarily the case. While Farsight plans to put the well-loved board into the game, the licensing costs for it are astronomical. Being based on the Addams Family movie and having a bevvy of A-list actors lending their voices to it (The late Raul Julia, Anjelica Huston, Christopher Lloyd and Christina Ricci) it is a highly expensive table to recreate.

Farsight has therefore, much like Star Trek and and Terminator 2, decided to start a kickstarter to gain the funds needed to obtain the necessary licenses. Though the kickstarter isn’t up yet, it is said that it will begin sometime before the end of the summer.
