While Bokeh Game Studio released their debut game Slitterhead just last year, the developer is already working on its next title.
Details on the next game from Keiichiro Toyama (creator of Silent Hill) are scant, though we know it won’t be a sequel to Slitterhead, which has been available since for PC and consoles – get our review for the game!
In the interest of avoiding spoilers, a new interview with Toyama and staff was held at an art exhibit with works from the game. In the interview, Toyama was asked if the game’s clear nod towards a sequel meant they were considering one.
“To some extent, we had already decided on the ending,” Toyama said. “However, as we proceeded with the production, we felt that everything would come to a neat conclusion within the scope of what we could depict in the game this time. I felt that it would not be on such a scale. Therefore, we did not do so with a sequel in mind.”
Toyama was keen to note that while the ending was decided without considering a sequel, a true sequel to Slitterhead is not off the table.
“I just decided that within the scope of what I could make this time, it would be good to end the game here,” Toyama said. “But it is not as if I could make a sequel right away. I think there may be a time in the future when the inevitability meshes, but at least it won’t be anytime soon.”
Coming from this, the next project from Bokeh Game Studio won’t be a sequel to Slitterhead, but it sounds like it will be awhile until we see it released.
“I can’t give you any details, but we are working on our next project,” Toyama said. “At first, we wanted to create a studio that could do a variety of projects, including more light-hearted ones based on the ideas of young people. Now, however, I feel that we have to face this challenge again with the full power of the studio. We are working toward that goal. We are still in the early stages of this project, so I will be able to tell you more about it in the future.”
