It seems like someone is quietly listening to me—cyberpunk games seem to be raining from the skies!
Featured above, you can view the debut trailer for Murder, the new game from Peter Moorhead, the creator of the 2001: A Space Odyssey-esque indie game Stranded. The game is described as a cyberpunk short story, inspired by the works of great minds of the genre like Masamune Shirow, Katsuhiro Otomo, Neal Stephenson, and the like.
The game plays out in point-and-click adventure fashion, featuring the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Lieutenant Motomeru Minori (terrible choice for a last name) as she gets embroiled in an extremely strange and dangerous case. While details are scant (as the game is highly story driven), the near-future Tokyo depicted is somewhat of a dystopia, where sentience and morality have become commodities.
I won’t spoil the trailer, but the indies behind Murder are striving to provide “engaging environmental storytelling and confident cinematic flair” in the game.
For now, you can follow the development of Murder via its official website.
