Xbox’s NINJA GAIDEN II Black trailer cuts out fanservice by removing women entirely

Ayane Ninja Gaiden II Black

For some reason, the Xbox version of the trailer for NINJA GAIDEN II Black has cut out all the fanservice… by removing all the women from the trailer.

Ayane, Rachel, Momiji, and Irene all have a few seconds to shine in the PlayStation version of the NINJA GAIDEN II Black trailer, but are noticeably missing from the Xbox version. You can compare the two yourself below. (Timestamps for the major change is 0:39 on the PlayStation trailer and 0:32 on the Xbox trailer).

At first, it looked like a simply stylistic change, with the Xbox trailer showing off some action-oriented cutscenes. But even a minor scene where we see a flash of Irene in the PlayStation trailer is replaced by the Tengu Brothers, completely removing any appearance of major female characters.

Speculatively, Xbox may be avoiding showing any fanservice, Team Ninja (and by extension the Ninja Gaiden series) is famous for their character designs from game franchises such as Dead or Alive.

While traditionally, Sony and PlayStation are infamous for their censorship, in this case it’s Xbox who’s seemingly gone out of their way to have women removed from being associated with their platform.

NINJA GAIDEN II Black is available now on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation.
