In a curious new development, Sega has filed a new trademark in Japan for what could be the title for an upcoming Like a Dragon game: Yakuza Wars.

While the Japanese mafia series has since adopted the literal translation Like a Dragon for its title scheme, the upcoming Amazon live-action series makes a callback to its original western title Yakuza.

The new Yakuza Wars trademark was filed back on July 26th in Japan and was just made public today via trademark watcher Chizai Watch.

As with any new trademark filed by a big game publisher / developer, take this with a grain of salt because it could simply be Sega reserving a name for potential titles or projects that haven’t even been greenlit yet.
